Groups of all ages love our guided walks. Get to know the Georgian history of Whitehaven first hand from our expert guides.

The Harbour Trail includes all aspects of the town’s maritime past and includes the development of the harbour, coal mining history and the raid by John Paul Jones in 1778.

The Town Trail guides you through the Georgian Gem town of Whitehaven, appreciating the architecture, history, churches and local characters.

Self-Guided Walks can be purchased in our shop and include a map and description of the fascinating sights in Whitehaven.

This service is available to groups of 10 people or more. Contact The Beacon to discuss your requirements - you may like us to focus on a particular period of history.

What you see in the Museum is only the tip of the iceberg. Why not book a behind the scenes tour?
It is not possible to display the Museum Collection in full in the Beacon and we have a dedicated off-site storage facility to house the Reserve Collections.
The Resource Centre houses the Museum’s Reserve Collection.
If you have a special interest, or would like to see behind the scenes, you can arrange a private tour.
Special tours can be arranged for a group of up to 15 people by appointment.
