The Beacon's museum collections contain everything from natural history to fine art. Here's an example of one of our latest acquisitions.
"Looking South Across Whitehaven Harbour in a Flat Calm" was painted by Robert Salmon around 1815.
We're really proud to have this because it's the first Salmon painting we have which features recognisable landmarks of the town as well as ships.
The purchase of this painting has been funded and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, MLA / V&A Purchase Fund, Copeland Borough Council and the Friends of Whitehaven Museum.
