28.09.2010 - 28.09.2010 14.00
Category:
Talking Tuesdays

Description

It wasn’t just evacuees that came to Cumberland during the dark days of World War Two. Be amazed to hear of how some of the finest pieces of artwork ever painted were removed from the Tate National Gallery to protect them from the German Luftwaffe and capture if an invasion ever took place. (Yes the Vincent Van Gogh famous painting of Sunflowers really  did spend the war years at Muncaster Castle).
